Prueba De Embarazo Gratis
The clinical staff at Queens Gynecology Services offers ultrasound and pregnancy testing. An ultrasound exam, also known as a sonogram, is a procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to scan your abdomen and pelvic cavity and create a picture of your baby and placenta. It can detect or aid in the detection of abnormalities. There are several types of ultrasound and pregnancy testing exams including:
Standard Ultrasound: This traditional exam uses a transducer over your abdomen to generate 2-D images of the developing fetus.
Advanced Ultrasound: This is similar to the standard exam, but it targets a suspected problem and utilizes more sophisticated equipment.
3-D Ultrasound: The 3-D method uses specially designed probes and software to generate 3-D images of the fetus.
You may be wondering when ultrasound and pregnancy testing is done. Ultrasounds can be performed at any point during pregnancy and to determine if you are pregnant. The results can be seen immediately on a monitor during the procedure. There is no recommended number that should be done during routine prenatal care. Other types of pregnancy testing let you know if you are pregnant by determining if your urine or blood contain a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). It is produced right after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of your uterus. If you are pregnant, levels of hCG rise continually and rapidly. The types of pregnancy tests attainable at Queens Gynecology Services are:
- Qualitative nCG Test
- Quantitative hCG Test
- Blood Tests
- Urine Tests
Urine tests can be performed in two different ways and can be performed at home or in our clinic. One method involves collecting your urine in a cup and dipping a stick into the urine or putting urine into a special container with an eyedropper. Another option involves placing a stick into your urine stream and catching your urine in midstream. This type of test is most accurate in the morning when your urine is more concentrated. There are two types of blood tests. A quantitative blood test measures the exact amount of hCG in your blood, and a qualitative hCG blood test gives a simple yes or no answer about whether you are pregnant or not. Some of the advantages of having a blood test done are:
- It can detect a pregnancy earlier than a urine test at about 7-12 days from possible conception, but if a negative result is received, the test should be repeated if you miss a period.
- It can measure the concentration of hCG hormone in your blood. This is useful information for us in order to track certain problems in your pregnancy.
