Abortos Por Pildoras o Cirugia
Surgical abortion & abortion pill is a safe and effective way to end an early pregnancy. If you are seeking a surgical abortion & abortion pill, a sonogram is recommended to determine if your pregnancy is viable and for accurate pregnancy dating. The abortion pill is very effective.
There are a couple of different types of medical abortion & abortion pill options. Read more details about each one below:
Surgical Abortions:
Mifepristone (mifeprex) & Misoprostol: This procedure is used up to the first 7-9 weeks of pregnancy. It is also known as RU-486 or the abortion pill. A physical exam can determine your eligibility for this surgical abortion. Mifepristone is given orally during your first office visit. It blocks progesterone from the uterine lining, causing it to break down, preventing the ability to continue a pregnancy. Some of the side effects include infection, cramping and vomiting.
Methotrexate & Misoprostol (MTX): This medical procedure is used up to the first 7 weeks (49 days of pregnancy). Antibiotics are also given to prevent infection. The misoprostol tablets are given orally or inserted vaginally about 2 days later and you can take them at home. Some of the side effects of this surgical abortion & abortion pill are nausea, heavy bleeding, cramping and diarrhea.
Medication abortion has been used safely in the United States for more than a decade. Serious complications are very rare, but can happen. They include:
- Abortion pills do not work and the pregnancy does not end
- Some of the pregnancy tissue is left in your uterus
- Blood clots in your uterus
- Bleeding too much or too long
- Infection
- Allergic reaction to one of the medicines
These problems are not common. And if they do occur, they are usually easy to take care of with medication or other treatments. In rare cases, some complications can be very serious or even life threatening. Call your doctor or health center right away if you experience heavy bleeding from your vagina, passing large clots for more than 2 hours, belly pain or cramps that don’t get better with pain medication, a fever of 100.4 or higher more than 24 hours after taking misoprostol, weakness or diarrhea that last more than 25 hours after taking misoprostol.
The type of abortion you choose depends on your personal preference and situation. With medication abortion, some people like that you do not need to have a procedure in a physician’s office. You can have your medication abortion at home or in another comfortable setting that you choose. You can also decide who you want to be with during the procedure.
